Town Of East Hartford Mayor Mike Walsh Appoints Alexander Trujillo As New Public Works Director

Mayor Mike Walsh has appointed Alexander Trujillo as the East Hartford Public Works Director, following the retirement of former Public Works Director Marilynn Cruz-Aponte.
“I am pleased to welcome Mr. Trujillo to East Hartford,” said Mayor Mike. “He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in the public works industry and will be a tremendous asset to my team of directors.”
Alexander Trujillo brings with him decades of professional experience in the public works industry. Prior to joining the Town of East Hartford, Mr. Trujillo enjoyed a 20-year career with the City of Hartford, and most recently, another 17 years with the Town of Avon.
“It goes without saying that I’m proud to have been appointed to this position by Mayor Walsh to serve the residents of East Hartford,” said Trujillo. “The EHPW department has a dedicated group of men and women who go above and beyond every day and I hope I can continue to support them in their efforts to provide outstanding services to the residents so that they can say that East Hartford is a great place to live, work and play.”
Throughout his career, Mr. Trujillo held a variety of leadership positions including but not limited to Equipment Superintendent (Fleet Manager), Facility Manager, Flood Operations Supervisor and as Deputy Director for the Town of Avon’s Public Works department, giving him a thorough understanding of the roles within the Public Works profession.
Additionally, Mr. Trujillo’s leadership experience with Labor-Management spans over 17 years as a Union leader with AFSCME Local 1716 holding the positions of Executive Vice President and President of the Manager/Supervisor Union (Hartford Municipal Employee Assoc.).
He has also held several elected positions with the Hartford Municipal Employee Federal Credit Union (currently known as CENCAP Federal Credit Union) including Credit Committee Chair, Supervisory Committee member and Board of Directors member.
He also serves as the current President for the Connecticut Association of Street Highway Officials (CASHO) and is an elected member of their Board of Directors. He also brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in labor management and safety.
Born and raised in Hartford, CT, Mr. Trujillo’s parents came to the U.S. from Cuba in 1963. Mr. Trujillo has a strong sense of volunteerism that he dedicates his free time to.
