Join the Wallingford Public Library and SCOW in a celebration of Día de los Muertos! Learn about the traditions of this holiday and view our community-made altar. Dancers and musicians will put on traditional performances and you'll have the opportunity to participate in themed crafts and hands-on activities. Los Mariachis truck will be here so you can grab a snack, and we will show Coco throughout the day.

The Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) is a yearly Mexican tradition, usually celebrated between October 31st and November 3rd, to remember loved ones who have passed away. On this day, those who are living bring an “offering” of a favorite food or drink of the deceased loved one, because it is believed that the loved ones will return during that time to visit their living loved ones, and can then enjoy the offerings left for them on an altar. These offerings, as well as other cultural symbols, such as flowers, candles, incense, and traditional breads are usually placed on an altar, built by the family or loved one at their home, specifically for this celebration.
