Mission:

The American Clock & Watch Museum is a non-profit educational and research institution established to promote a general public interest in and an appreciation of handmade and production clocks & watches produced in the United States.

This mission is accomplished by:

A. Maintaining a museum in Bristol, CT for the collection, preservation, exhibition and interpretation of clocks, watches, other timekeepers and related material of scientific, historical or horological interest. (Horology is the science of measuring time or constructing time-indicating instruments.)

B. Operating a research library of primary & secondary historic documents and other published literature pertaining to the history, development and manufacture of such timekeepers.

C. Supporting a publication program to acquire, prepare, edit, publish, and distribute by sale or otherwise, new and reprinted documentary material relative to clock & watch making and manufacturing.

D. Studying and interpreting the history of American horology through educational programs to both specific and general audiences and cooperating with other public and private agencies to make these programs available to the widest possible audience.

E. Encouraging the preservation of information, objects, architecture and historic sites related to American horology.
